LOTR: Lions Roar by Kumama LOTR: Lions Roar by Kumama
Okay, again, just had to expand on the last comic I did- I love Elrond, I do, but I mean come on...he could have done -something-! I would bet money on him kicking Isildur's butt at any time of day.
Is it just me?

I know it's spelled 'Isildur', but I like him shouting 'Isildor' because...Isildor..in Mordor.

Anyways, I don't own Lord of the Rings. Tolkien does.

I love Elrond, he's truly one of the nicest elves in Middle-Earth......but his niceness also caused so many problems 3000 years later =P (Razz)

I was thinking the same thing! And also with Sam near the end, he should have done something too. In fact, I wrote a fanfiction about it. In case you're interested, here you go: beautyandstrength.deviantart.c…

I personally wonder - why do so many people around here think that Elrond could've taken the Ring by force and destroyed it? One would think that it was made fairly obvious that it would've been impossible for him to do it without being corrupted by the Ring himself. :/

Mm, well you see that part in the movie pretty early on- you don't quite understand just how bad people can become once they get the ring. Also there's the fact that Elrond is an elf and also a better warrior, we see that he actually wants it destroyed whereas Isildur has not given any indication that he previously thought that so for all the viewer knows he has always wanted it...?
But in my opinion it's also because Isildur is Elrond's great-great-great-etc. nephew and that's not something he'd do.

Yes, that's true.

...y'know, when you think about it, that particular connection makes the whole Arwen/Aragorn thing slightly weird (though no less lovable - in my eyes at least XD), considering that Elrond's own nephew (at least sixty times removed, that is) - who also happens to be his foster son - is marrying his daughter. :XD:

I'm thinking that that may or may not have been one of his reasons why he was so eager to try and send her off to Valinor before her marriage to him could take place.

Yeah, but there was so many generations it's they're severely distant- there's probably more distance between them than most of the couples on Middle-Earth, if that makes sense >w < Craaazy.

"Shoo, Arwen, shoo!"

One does get the feeling that that was basically what he was trying to do (though his reasons were understandable). :giggle:

He could have simply tossed Isildur into the fire as well and then ran out screaming "OH NO! Isildur fell into the volcano, whatever shall we do?!" :P

Yeah, well... remember to the LAST person who took the Ring by force? (Smeagol/Gollum, and I guess Isildur could be counted, given he took the Ring from Sauron after he slew him)

Well, I think I know WHY Elrond didn't kick Isildur's butt. Frodo wanted Gandalf to have the ring, but Gandalf said "No", that the power of the Ring will turn him in a terrible lord. And Legolas said (in the book) that the day Aragorn took the boats of... Oh, c'mon I forgot the name. He though about what kind of terrible lord he would become if Aragorn had the Ring. Well, Elrond is more powerful than Aragorn (I guess) and acording to the book, a single touch to the Ring and YOU ARE DOOMED. That happened to Boromir. So what would have happened if Elrond kicked Isildur's butt and touched the Ring? A new Dark Lord will arise... And the Middle Earth will be doomed. Well, I see it like that.

Yeh, its true, Elrond could have killed/stopped/beaten up Isildur and destroyed the ring. And then there would be no story... or maybe a completely different story....! Elrond is too nice I guess?
