“Oh, Miss Rue,” Ebine laughed, a bigger smile appearing on her bright face. “You are such an interesting girl. Please, tell me more about the school. What are your friends like?”

Interesting? Rue felt her mouth open in surprise. She was interesting? Maybe Ebine was just being polite. Yet as Rue spoke about her studies and her classmates, she felt that the older woman was listening attentively, as if she really did think Rue was interesting. It felt foreign, to talk with someone like this, especially an adult. Rue couldn’t remember the last time something like that had happened. It made her feel, well, for lack of a better word, special.

Warmth, sincerity, closeness, depth, intensity.

I don't know about you but I really like Ebine (I mean, I love all the characters so...) and episode 3 never fails to get me choked up if not watery eyed, which is interesting since the first time I saw it the whole thing went over my head. Anyways! This is part of that AU I mentioned in my journal, which is why Rue might seem a bit out of character, there are many events leading up to this. I hope someday I can write it all out and have pictures to go with scenes but I only have this one and another one where Rue is doing dishes with Ebine >w < I picture Ebine could be a great role model for Rue and Rue a great comfort for Ebine.
